Baby Loss Awareness Week 2021

Every year, from 9 to 15 October, the Baby Loss Awareness Week takes place. A week in which attention is drawn to baby mortality worldwide every year. With various activities, we want to increase awareness for baby loss. And of course, Steunpunt Nova pays a lot of attention to this.

Walk for Nova

A whole week of walking in honor of your baby. Walking or running? Long or short distances? Alone or with friends, family or colleagues. Anything is possible.

Wave of light
The BLAW will end on Friday 15 October with a Wave of Light. Worldwide, a candle is lit for deceased babies at exactly 19:00 (local time), to remember that they have been here with us. This creates a Wave of light all over the world.

From Steunpunt Nova we will do this together in Nunspeet at Hotel Sparrenhorst. With this we also close the Baby Loss Awareness Week and Walk for Nova.
At 17.30 there is the opportunity to walk a last (short) stage of the Walk for Nova together. This is a marked route of about 30 minutes. The course is beautifully lit especially for us. Around 6 pm we are welcome in Hotel Sparrenhorst for coffee, tea and then we walk to the park (Oranjepark), there we will mention all your baby’s names and burn a candle for each of them. After this, we are welcome until 9 pm in Hotel Sparrenhorst to end this beautiful evening together. Coffee and tea are provided. Other drinks can be ordered at your own expense.

If you participate in the Walk, you can indicate on the registration form whether you also connect to Nunspeet. If you do not participate in the Walk but you want to be there in Nunspeet, please send an email to info@ruthv.sg-host.com.
PLEASE NOTE: access with Corona pass

Illuminating buildings
Help us to color as many buildings as possible in pink and blue light. For example, the hospital, town hall, football stadium or the church nearby. These municipalities are already participating:

  • Arnhem
  • Hengelo
  • Dutch Crown
  • Domus Dela, Eindhoven

Think of an activity yourself in which baby mortality comes to the attention. Think of a news item, a collection campaign or a meeting.

Keep a close eye on this page to stay informed of all activities in the BLAW 2021.

Because Steunpunt Nova is a member and supporter of the BLAW Alliance in the United Kingdom, we connect our themes to the theme of the UK and that is “wellbeing”. Well-being of the mother, the father, the grandmothers, the grandfathers, the brothers and sisters, family and friends. But also the well-being of the caregiver.

Every day we will highlight a different side of the subject and those involved in this loss will speak about it.

You can read more about what we have done in BLAW2020 below .

Do you want to help?

  • Follow us on Facebook, instagram and Linkedin to stay up to date about our activities.
  • Subscribe to our newsletter here.
  • Set up an action to donate or shop online at https://steunpuntnova.doelshop.nl/. Then a percentage of your purchase will automatically go to Steunpunt Nova. This will NOT cost you anything!
You can also still donate for the reading booklets. Every euro helps parents to create beautiful memories with their lost child.
You can also ask your local supermarket whether the proceeds for bottle deposit can go to Steunpunt Nova for a few months, so that people can choose to donate their deposit vouchers for Steunpunt Nova. Many supermarkets participate in such fundraising events. Here you can find a flyer to hang up for to go with the fundraiser.
